Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, has partnered with a leading, growth-focused Education Group based in Melbourne to recruit a pivotal IT Systems Administrator/Engineer to join their dynamic IT team. This is a rare chance to step into a role that combines strategic planning with hands-on technical execution. The education entity runs a wide range of course options, from Information Technology to Hospitality focussed study all from a state of the art campus in the northern area of Melbourne's CBD. The entity is a Registered Training Organisation, (RTO no regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)

The Opportunity

This role requires a specialist who can both build and maintain. The role is full time and ongoing, working with a confident successful entity working in the education space.

Your Core Responsibilities Will Include:

• Network & Systems Engineering: Designing, implementing, and managing robust LAN/WAN infrastructure (Cisco/Juniper/similar) to ensure high availability and performance.
• Virtualisation & Servers: Deep administration of Windows/Linux Servers and managing enterprise-level virtual environments (VMware or Hyper-V).
• Identity & Access: Expert management of Active Directory (or similar) and user identity solutions.
• Cyber Security: Implementing and hardening security measures, including Firewalls, VPNs, and ensuring robust backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) capability.
• Operational Excellence: Performing advanced troubleshooting, system patching, and comprehensive documentation for all IT assets.

What we expect to see in order to be considered for this exciting role

• A tertiary qualification in IT/Computer Science or agreed equivalent.
• Proven experience (3 years plus) in a similar high impact and versatile role.
• Demonstrable expertise in network protocols, switching/routing, and server administration.
• Relevant industry certifications are highly regarded (CCNA, MCSA/E, VCP).
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and excellent communication/ soft people skills.
• Solid understanding of BYOD in the education space (Windows MacOS Linux).
• Unrestricted full time Australian working rights.
