This position as a Religious Education teacher (Years 7-12) is due to Holy Cross College's continued growth in enrolment numbers and a commitment to recognising Religious Education as the first learning area in Catholic schools. The Religious Education teacher plays a vital role in forming students spiritually, intellectually, and morally in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. As a member of the Religious Education Learning Area, a Religious Education teacher must have a strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and the Religious Education curriculum, be willing to collaborate and work effectively with other members of the learning area and possess ongoing commitment to professional growth and personal faith formation. This is a full-time ongoing position which commences in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Religious Education lessons that are connected to Sacred Scripture, Church Tradition, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
  • Incorporate Catholic values and teachings across all areas of instruction and classroom interaction.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of effective teaching strategies and consistently deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching practice.
  • Develop and maintain teaching programs in line with courses and assessment timelines as outlined by the Learning Area Leader Religious Education.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Establish high expectations for learning, behaviour, and personal responsibility, promoting a positive and respectful environment in the classroom in line with the College's Behaviour Support Guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete reporting requirements, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers.
