About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Developer / DevOps Engineer to strengthen our nbn Element Management System (EMS) integration and development capabilities. This role will lead the modernization of our Telco OSS/EMS software environment, including refactoring existing custom code and establishing robust, automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous delivery and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Modernization

  • Lead full lifecycle software upgrade projects, covering analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Refactor and optimize existing code (Python, Java, C#) into modern OS baselines to improve scalability and maintainability.
  • Design and deliver platform-specific solutions for Cisco and Ericsson EMS platforms.

DevOps & Automation

  • Architect, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Develop automation scripts with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform for provisioning and configuration.
  • Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system reliability and performance.

Telco-Specific Focus & Integration

  • Develop customized scripts and scheduled jobs tailored for Telco operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with major vendors to integrate customized solutions with new OS baselines.
  • Deliver customer-focused solutions for leading Telco providers (e.g., NBN, Optus, TPG).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Programming Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python, Java, and C#.
  • DevOps & Automation:
  • Proven hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of Git / GitHub / Bitbucket and automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Kubernetes (container orchestration) and Docker (containerization).
  • EMS Platform Expertise: Direct working experience with Cisco EMS and Ericsson EMS.
  • Telco Domain Knowledge:
  • Strong background in OSS/BSS and EMS software within Telco environments.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom scripts and scheduled jobs for Telco customers.
  • Familiarity with major Telco vendors and their platforms.
  • Preferred Technical Experience (Mandatory):
  • Ericsson Network Manager (ENM)
  • Ericsson Dynamic Activation (EDA)
  • Cisco Crosswork Network Controller (CNC)
  • AXIROX ACS – AXESS & AXTRACK

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across development, operations, and vendor teams.
