The role
As a Senior Application Specialist within the Data, Applications and Architecture Solutions team, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and supporting TasPorts' enterprise and marine business applications across the state. You'll be instrumental in driving digital transformation by designing and implementing modern solutions using platforms like Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and Microsoft 365.
This role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to mentor junior team members, while partnering with stakeholders to ensure applications are aligned with business needs and deliver operational efficiencies.
Key Duties
- Provide expert support and maintenance for TasPorts' core business applications and databases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Lead user training and create technical documentation to support system use and understanding.
- Manage application upgrades and enhancements, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with internal policies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and improve system efficiency.
- Contribute to strategic application roadmaps and stay informed on vendor product developments.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships and manage associated contracts.
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including user manuals and operational processes.
About you
You're a proactive and solutions-focused IT professional with a passion for delivering high-quality digital experiences. You thrive in complex environments and enjoy working collaboratively to solve problems and improve systems. Your ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders will be key to your success in this role
What you will have
- 3–5 years' experience administering enterprise IT solutions.
- Strong technical skills in integration and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, SQL, PowerBI, HTML).
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end delivery of business systems and applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in multi-tiered environments.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence change across diverse stakeholder groups.
- High-level self-management and organisational skills.
- A current driver's licence and the ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
Desirable:
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics/PowerApps, Microsoft Fabric, and Microsoft 365.
