As a Principal Cloud Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in driving our cloud growth strategy and accelerating our market position as a leading cloud transformation partner. In this senior position, you will lead complex enterprise-scale transformation programs, enabling transformative outcomes for our clients while building internal capability and driving revenue growth.
With a focus on Microsoft Azure and DevOps practices (Terraform, automation, CI/CD), this role requires deep technical expertise, solution leadership, and the proven ability to design, deliver, and embed complex cloud solutions within large enterprise environments. You will be responsible for maintaining a 75% billable utilisation rate while contributing to business development and capability building activities.
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with C-level executives, IT leaders, and technical teams to shape strategic cloud roadmaps, guide organisations through multi-year modernisation initiatives, and ensure solutions align with both business objectives and technical excellence. You will play a critical role in bridging strategy and execution, ensuring clients adopt cloud technologies in a secure, cost-effective, and scalable manner.
Beyond project delivery, the Principal Cloud Consultant will drive the growth of internal capability by developing and refining best practices, mentoring and uplifting the skills of consultants and engineers, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
This role integrates technical expertise, strategic expertise, and commercial responsibility to deliver exceptional value for our clients and strengthen our reputation as the preferred partner in their digital transformation journey.
Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership
- Lead enterprise-grade Azure cloud architecture and transformation programs
- Provide expert guidance on DevOps practices, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, automation, and governance at scale
- Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions aligned with industry best practices
- Act as a technical thought leader, producing reference architectures, standards, and accelerators
- Lead Azure Landing Zone implementations and enterprise-scale modernisation initiatives
Client Engagement & Strategy
- Partner with clients' C-level and senior stakeholders to shape cloud strategy, modernisation roadmaps, and business outcomes
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships across multi-year transformation programs
- Deliver strategic consulting services that drive measurable business value
- Act as the primary technical advisor for large-scale enterprise engagements
Commercial & Business Development
- Maintain 75% billable utilisation across client engagements
- Support pre-sales activities, including solution design, RFP responses, and client presentations
- Contribute to revenue targets through successful project delivery and business development activities
- Leverage Microsoft partnership funding opportunities and co-funded initiatives
- Collaborate with Microsoft teams on joint go-to-market activities
Capability Building & Leadership
- Mentor and coach consultants and engineers to build organisational capability
- Develop junior consultants to billable consultant level within defined timeframes
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and the development of reusable frameworks and assets
- Drive accelerated growth in cloud practice revenue and capability
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement across delivery teams
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of enterprise cloud consulting, architecture, and delivery leadership experience.
- At least 5 years in senior technical leadership roles managing complex transformation programs
- Proven experience in cloud consulting, architecture, and delivery leadership.
- Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, governance, cost optimisation, security, landing zones).
- Strong background in DevOps - automation, Terraform, CI/CD, containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience delivering large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
- Excellent stakeholder management, consulting, and communication skills.
- Pre-sales experience is highly regarded.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field.
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (or equivalent).
- Terraform Associate or advanced certification is desirable.
- DevOps, security, or cloud governance certifications are advantageous
