ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are seeking an experienced Production Manager (Afternoon Shift) to lead and manage our Sheet Metal and Assembly Plant (Commercial and Domestic) as well as our Controls Manufacturing Plant.

This role requires a strong understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing processes, along with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced production environment.

WHAT'S INVOLVED

As the Production Manager (Afternoon Shift), you will:

  • Demonstrate a full understanding and working knowledge of WHS and Quality Systems, ensuring all factory personnel adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Actively pursue production issues including equipment status, quality, and staffing levels.
  • Co-ordinate the shift production program in line with daily and weekly plans to ensure efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Production Planning team to meet build requirements.
  • Identify new methods to increase production efficiency or reduce waste.
  • Ensure resources (labour, machinery, materials) are effectively utilised and monitored.
  • Meet production efficiency targets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and skill development for direct reports.
  • Communicate relevant information to your team to enable effective performance.
  • Conduct daily shift handovers with the Production Manager – Day Shift and Operations Manager – Controls.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, identifying training requirements and skill gaps.
  • Continually seek opportunities to develop and implement training initiatives for your team.

YOU WILL NEED

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar leadership position within manufacturing.
  • A strong understanding of Assembly and Sheet Metal processes and industry (essential).
  • Formal qualifications with a Mechanical background (advantageous).
  • An understanding of, or qualifications in, HVAC (advantageous).
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly effective people skills with diplomacy and problem-solving ability.
  • Solid knowledge of Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement Systems.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Proven experience using an ERP, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (advantageous).
