About the roleAs a key member of our Analysis team this role leads and contributes to key ECA projects and policy submissions, working closely with colleagues across the Advocacy & Policy team and the broader ECA, research partners, market bodies and consumer advocates.
The role delivers high-quality data analysis and research to provide a strong and impactful evidence base for ECA's advocacy and policy initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical and economic analysis on the national electricity market, with a focus on wholesale electricity markets and regulated network businesses. Analysis will identify how market design, pricing and regulatory changes ultimately affect residential and small business consumers.
- Supporting regulatory submissions and reform processes, developing clear, evidence-based positions in response to rule changes, determinations and consultations from AEMC, AEMO, AER and others.
- Monitoring and interpreting market developments, including energy pricing trends and policy changes.
You're a sharp analyst who can translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. You're passionate about fair outcomes and thrive in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.
You bring:
- A degree in Economics, Engineering, Public Policy or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills (energy market or regulatory experience a plus).
- Experience with tools like Excel, Power BI, Python or R.
- A knack for clear communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Hybrid work (3 days office / 2 days WFH)
- 5 additional ECA leave days + 4 weeks annual leave
- Prime CBD location – Sydney or Melbourne
