Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced: Grade 2, Mental Health Psychologist – Specialist Older Adults Consultation/Community Service.

About Mental Health Division:

Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.

Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.

We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.

About the Role:

This role requires that As a Grade 2 Psychologist, you provide assessment, treatment for older persons with mental health issues, frailty and/or co morbidities, who reside in their own homes (including RACFs) in the Northern region of Melbourne.

The work also involves providing support to consumers' families, carers and close others, "Co-managing referrals with the Clinical Psychology team".

Consultation and support to the multidisciplinary teams (SOACS community, SOACS residential and inpatient).

This is a fixed term, part time role until August 7th 2026.

This role is responsible for:

  • Managing SOACS and Inpatient referrals for Clinical Psychology
  • Conduct evidence-based Clinical Psychology assessments and interventions with SOACS and Older Adult Inpatient consumers (including with interpreters for CALD consumers).
  • Participating in Clinical Review / Multidisciplinary team meetings providing a Psychology perspective, (including diagnostic impressions, feedback on process considerations and treatment planning advice/considerations to support team clinical decision-making).
  • Providing accurate, timely appropriate documentation (e.g. progress notes, written reports)

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience and good working knowledge of legislation relevant to older people (e.g. Mental Health & Wellbeing Act, 2022.

  • Proven ability to work with consumers, family and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services.

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to work within developing older adult and service.

  • Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or preparedness to achieve endorsement).

  • Experience working in adults/older adults mental health.
