About The Role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 November 2026
We're seeking a skilled
Senior Advisor, Briefings & Correspondence
to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, timely, and accurate ministerial briefings, correspondence, and information. Reporting to the Manager, Briefings & Correspondence, you'll work closely with ministerial offices, the Secretary's office, and senior executives to ensure the department and its agencies provide coordinated, insightful, and professional advice to portfolio ministers. This role blends operational delivery with strategic oversight—identifying emerging issues, driving process improvements, and leading key initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

As the leader of a small, high-performing team, you'll guide and mentor staff to ensure ministerial products are prepared to the highest standard, reinforcing the department's reputation for excellence.

  • Provides effective leadership, people management and supports the development of capability across the team.
  • Supervises team outputs and assists in the allocation and prioritisation of work to ensure delivery against deadlines and quality standards.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external business areas, and prioritises understanding stakeholder issues.
  • Drafts, edits and reviews policy and process documents, briefs, correspondence and other written materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, policy alignment and compliance.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of government services, processes, and systems (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in building networks and relationships (mandatory).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
