Description
  • Play a critical role in the management of risk and assurance activities across the Digital and Campus Services portfolio.
  • Highly attractive remuneration package and generous leave provisions
  • Located at our Footscray Park Campus

About VU:

At Victoria University, our aim is to be a global leader in dual-sector learning and research by 2028. Join us on the journey and help us achieve our strategic drivers embedded in our Strategic Plan 2022–2028: Start well, finish brilliantly. One of the drivers, A Thriving Place to Study and Work, enables us to create environments where students and staff feel pride and belonging.

The Opportunity:

The Risk and Assurance Coordinator play a critical role in supporting the identification, coordination and management of risk and assurance activities across the Digital and Campus Services (DCS) portfolio. Working in close partnership with portfolio leadership, DCS business units and the Enterprise Risk & Compliance team, this role helps to build and mature integrated governance, risk, compliance, and assurance practices spanning digital infrastructure, cyber security, physical security, data platforms, projects, and operations (including third party risk and technology risk management).

The coordinator ensures DCS maintains a clear and current view of its operational and strategic risk landscape, including risks related to technology, infrastructure, third-party suppliers and people.

Acting as a trusted advisor, the role drives risk transparency, supports compliance, and enables informed decision-making through structured assessments, effective reporting, and ongoing controls assurance. It also contributes to the development and enforcement of strong risk and security practices across university operations and strategic programs, including the definition of key risk indicators, policies, standards, and governance processes.

About You:

You are a strategic risk expert with extensive experience championing secure and confident decision making across large scale enterprise. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong risk and assurance capabilities, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

You will also possess:

  • Ability to implement and mature risk frameworks, conduct risk assessments, and align with enterprise-wide risk policies (e.g., ISO 31000, NIST CSF).
  • Skills in designing and evaluating control environments, managing assurance programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations (e.g., SOCI, APP, TEQSA).
  • Proven capability to act as a trusted advisor—translating complex risks into actionable insights and influencing decision-making across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience leading third-party risk assessments and managing risks across digital infrastructure, cyber security, and physical security domains.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document, present, and report on risks, controls, and compliance matters.
  • Ability to anticipate emerging threats, adapt frameworks, and drive the maturity of governance, risk, and assurance practices across a complex portfolio.
