
Specialist, Insurance Operations Incident

Are you passionate about risk, compliance, and making a real impact in superannuation insurance operations? As a Specialist in Insurance Operations Incident & Control, you'll play a key role in strengthening our control environment and supporting our teams to deliver safe, compliant, and member-focused outcomes.
You'll be responsible for identifying, designing, and maintaining insurance operations controls, working closely with Line 2 Group Risk and MEX Business Risk to meet reporting requirements in Archer (our Governance, Risk and Compliance tool). You'll also support the implementation and embedding of risk and compliance activities across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management of insurance operations incidents, including root cause analysis and remediation
- Identify control gaps and work with SMEs to uplift or implement new controls
- Maintain and review Archer controls, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
- Support the team with compliance and risk obligations, including control self-assessments
- Record and manage issues in Archer, including action planning and resolution tracking
- Provide advice on controls for insurance operations initiatives and projects
- Deliver training and upskilling on compliance and risk responsibilities
- Attend incident meetings with third parties and communicate remediation steps
- Assist with regulatory lodgments, assurance activities, and complaints handling
- Promote a strong risk and compliance culture across the Insurance Operations team
- Support compliance with the Insurance Policy and insurance business rules (Underwriting and Claims)
You may be asked to support additional tasks or projects as directed by the Manager, Ins. Ops Incident and Control Governance.
We support hybrid working – our team works both in-office and from home in line with our flexible work principles.
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience in insurance within superannuation, particularly underwriting and/or claims
- Strong incident management skills, including root cause analysis and remediation
- Familiarity with the 3 Lines of Defense model
- Experience working with third-party providers
- Background in compliance management (Line 1 or Line 2) in financial services
- Tertiary qualifications in law, commerce, economics, accounting or similar (highly regarded)
- RG146 in superannuation (advantageous)
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
- Excellent organisational skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for uplifting member experiences
