CONTRACT ROLE

Algorithms Software Engineer – Data Fusion & Predictive Analytics

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in Australia's booming Data Analytics sector for space, defence, infrastructure and other applications. You will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary applied research team solving real world problems both on Earth and in space.

Remote work with weekly meetings in our North Sydney office.

Role includes working closely with domain experts and giving presentations in scientific and engineering conferences in Australia and overseas. Strong potential for growth as we are uniquely placed operating across different industry sectors using advanced analytics for novel applications.

About you


• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with fluent English


• Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering, focused on control theory.


• Several years' relevant work experience including software design and programming

Required skills:

Software Development


• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C


• Understanding of software architecture and high-level system design


• Familiarity with TCP/IP, REST APIs and real-time data integration

Data Processing & Scientific Programming


• Experience in scientific programming & implementing numerical algorithms


• Solid understanding of Kalman filters, including Extended or Unscented Kalman filters


• Familiarity with least-squares estimation and non-linear optimisation


• Experience in data analysis, numerical computing, and signal processing

Project & Client Engagement


• Ability to liaise with clients, capture requirements, and translate them into high-level technical solutions


• Ability to write project reports and technical proposals

Bonus Skills


• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript


• Experience with 3D visualisation


• Familiarity with real-time software development


• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git) and Agile methodologies

The Industrial Sciences Group (ISG) ) specialises in Predictive analytics, uncertainty quantification & risk assessment for the space, aerospace defence & infrastructure sectors. ISG has deployed Analytics Tools for space traffic management, maneuver planning, detection & protection for civilian and defence satellites, flight/weapons test telemetry forecasting —with NASA Goddard U.S. Space Force, Australian Space Agency, Geosciences Australia , Department of Defence, and the Defence Innovation Unit of the US DoD. ISG has also worked on mission design, simulation and navigation for several Moon missions. ISG is headquartered in Sydney and has an incorporated US subsidiary in Maryland.
