About the Role
We are seeking a
Data Engineer
to join the SensorFusionAI (SFAI) team in Sydney. Reporting to the SFAI Team Lead, you will develop the core data pipelines and tools that transform real-world, multi-sensor data into actionable AI intelligence — powering mission-critical systems operating in complex, high-stakes environments. This is a unique chance to apply your expertise to
multi-sensor data
(RF, optical, radar, and more) while building solutions that make the world safer and more secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain internal software tools for data processing, workflow automation, benchmarking, and testing of the SensorFusionAI engine.
- Analyse real-world sensor data, identify critical parameters, and plan collection strategies to ensure target classification models remain at the cutting edge.
- Lead data analysis during sensor integrations, evaluating detection accuracy and suitability for sensor fusion frameworks.
- Collaborate with field engineers, QA, and operators to collect and validate multi-sensor data.
- Oversee data annotation processes and quality control, ensuring consistent, model-ready datasets.
- Implement automated workflows and pipelines (CI/CD, DataOps, MLOps) to uphold the highest standards of performance and reliability.
- Continuously optimise data engineering pipelines for scalability, performance, and robustness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintain high software quality through documentation, testing, and code reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
- BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years' experience in a professional Software/Data Engineering environment.
- Strong background in
data engineering and automated workflows
(CI/CD, MLOps, DataOps). - Proficiency in one or more programming languages (ideally Python and/or Golang).
- Solid understanding of
data structures, algorithms, and applied mathematics/physics
. - Familiarity with Linux and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Nice to Have
- Experience in AI/ML projects.
- Proficiency in C++, CMake, and unit testing frameworks.
- Experience with
real-time, data-intensive applications
and/or GPU-based processing (TensorRT, CUDA). - Knowledge of
sensor fusion and object tracking algorithms
.
Who You Are
- Strong foundation in software/data engineering and comfortable designing
scalable data pipelines
. - Hands-on experience supporting
AI/ML workflows
. - Skilled across the
entire data lifecycle
, from raw ingestion to clean, labeled training datasets. - Proactive in implementing CI/CD, workflow orchestration, and automation for speed and reliability.
- Passionate about writing
clean, well-tested code
that integrates seamlessly into larger systems. - Curious and self-driven, with a strong desire to stay ahead in your field.
- Comfortable in
fast-paced, high-stakes environments
and motivated to contribute to global expansion.
