Residential Youth Worker & Disability Support Worker – Cairns QLD - ACN Contractor

We are a labour hire company and care & support service, providing contractual care workers throughout North Queensland. We are passionate about changing lives, and providing quality residential care services, where people can feel and know that they are safe, respected and cared for.
What does the services you will provide look like:
Providing care for person that is tailored to their needs and wants is one of the key parts of this role.
An example of that this might look like? Sure You could be responsible for a young person's overall care and safety.
The key responsibilities of this are:
- Working towards making young people feel safe, respected, and cared for.
- Helping young people move forward in life on a positive and productive trajectory.
- Imparting positive life skills, healthy hygiene & eating habits.
- Day to day household duties.
- Taking young people to appointments
- Giving and recording medications.

Your experience & qualifications:
We welcome people with life experience or community knowledge, even if you don't yet have formal qualifications. If you bring heart and commitment to hard work, we'll support your journey.
We're looking for people who have a the ability to motivate and communicate with a broad range of people, many of whom are young and from challenging backgrounds. You're positive, influential, have empathy, solutions focused, team oriented, and can self-manage. You adapt well to change, have experience with challenging behavior and have flexibility with your availability. You'll have an understanding of the impact of intergenerational trauma and a connection to culture is valued.
To be considered to proceed through the first stage of recruitment you must have:
- Full open availability to provide services any day of the week and any time; including support casual shifts, day shifts, weekends and evenings.
- The ability to apply for and gain a working with Children Blue Card & Disability Worker Screening Yellow Card
- A current Queensland drivers' licence.
- Access to a roadworthy vehicle (seats minimum 4) with willingness to obtain comprehensive insurance.
It would be helpful if you already have the below items, however if not you will have a willingness to obtain them during the recruitment process:
- A Certificate 4 or above in Child Youth & Family Intervention (Residential Care) or similar field of study. If not help, you must be willing to enroll and participate in study.
- An ACN, or willingness to obtain one.
- Public Liability Insurance & Professional Indemnity Insurance, or willing to obtain.
- Willingness to undertake information sessions prior to the commencement of contract.
