What's the role?

As a Senior Commercial Manager within Group Technology, you'll play a key role in supporting Westpac's Cyber Security portfolio. You'll lead commercial and contractual delivery across a range of strategic sourcing activities—working closely with suppliers, stakeholders, and senior leaders to ensure outcomes that are commercially sound, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

This is a 12-month, full-time role based in Sydney, with a hybrid working arrangement. It offers the opportunity to influence sourcing strategy and supplier performance in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Strong commercial and procurement expertise, with experience managing end-to-end deals.
  • Understanding of relevant business and technology products and services. Experience in or exposure to banking and/or FSI will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and drafting commercial contracts with the ability to manage multiple transactions, ensuring every agreement delivers maximum value and mitigates risk.
  • Establish and maintain risk and quality management to assure effective management of the category's contracts and procurement scope of work.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to define and implement sourcing strategies and assess supplier mix and industry trends. Executes high value, strategic sourcing projects. You will have advanced knowledge of industry contracts and best practice around large deal negotiations. You instinctively know what creates value and what levers need to be pushed.
  • Highly developed skills in negotiation of long-term sourcing agreements, demonstrating commercial and business acumen and pragmatism.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, including working with senior leaders and service owners and with suppliers.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, law, commerce, engineering or a related field.
