Adelaide South Australia Australia See Differently with the Royal Society for the Blind Full time $104,000 - $130,000 per year

About Us

See Differently supports people who are blind or have vision impairment to gain new skills, be engaged in life and grow confidence at home, at work and in their communities. Working together, See Differently supports a culture of participation, meaning and purpose with the understanding that small changes can often have a powerful impact.

We've been around for a long time – 140 years in fact. Over that time, we've seen and learnt a lot. That makes us the most experienced and knowledgeable provider of vision services in South Australia. But our range of services is also what makes us stand apart. Through our diverse range of services – from assistive technologies to guide dogs, we walk side-by-side with South Australians with blindness or low vision to create a new future.

The Opportunity

You will be provided with a thorough induction program, mentoring and clinical supervision, access to continuing professional development opportunities, specific training to learn assessment, intervention, and application of strategies with a core focus on increasing independence in life skills and prescription of low vision aids/assistive technology.

The role will incorporate a mixed caseload of clients that receive funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Home Care Packages, with additional work provided under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

Your skills and expertise

  • Provide clinical community based functional assessments and support under the NDIS and Aged Care funding arrangements, with potential for treatment / therapy service provision.
  • Work in close partnership with a range of specialised staff including Low Vision Optometrists, Orientation and Mobility Instructors, Adaptive Technology Specialists and Guide Dog Instructors.
  • Provide assessment and advice on home modifications and assistive technology.
  • Reform See Differently service delivery to clients with a re-ablement focus.
  • Collaborate with innovative See Differently technology partners.
  • Demonstrated people skills, including communication and conflict resolution required to deliver and foster relationships within a team.
  • Well-developed customer service skills and a commitment to providing quality service and implementing continuous improvement.
  • Good organisational, planning, and prioritising skills, including the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

A sound knowledge and understanding of vision impairment and empathy for people who are blind or vision impaired is highly desirable but not essential.

Previous experience in NDIS is also desirable, but not essential.

What we can offer you

  • A position where you make a difference every day
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Salary package up to $15,900 per annum to increase your take home pay plus $2,650 per annum for meals and entertainment (accommodation)

  • Optional fleet vehicles, novated leases and access to pool vehicles to enable you to carry out the day to day
  • 8 weeks paid parental leave for primary carers and 2 weeks for secondary carers
