We are looking for a Junior Factory Hand to join our Steel Supply business.

This is a full-time position, commencing on a casual basis for the first 6 months and then moving to permanent full-time.

Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm

This opportunity is open to entry-level applicants who possess strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a passion for gaining knowledge about the steel industry. Initiative and motivation are highly valued.

Desirable attributes:

  • Work well in a "Team" environment.
  • Be organised and able to meet deadlines.
  • Be actively involved in housekeeping.
  • Have good verbal communication.
  • Demonstrate ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.
  • Good manual dexterity with the ability to use tools and machinery.
  • Have good Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills.
  • Current Australian driver's license or reliable transport.
  • Flexibility and available for immediate start.

We will give on-the-job training to the right person.

Hourly rate will depend on experience, ability and productivity based on individual circumstances. Would suit a junior or recent school leaver wanting to learn a career path.

Learn the following responsibilities and more:

  • Picking and packing orders for dispatch
  • Acquiring knowledge about various types of steel products
  • Managing stock rotation and allocation
  • Reading detailed drawings for steel fabrication
  • Operating machinery, workshop equipment, and tools
  • Maintaining general cleanliness and following WHS procedures at all times
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Identifying problems and proposing solutions in fabrication
  • Manual handling involved in cutting steel
  • Light Fabrication of orders
  • Learn to use a measuring tool proficiently. Must be millimeter perfect
  • Participate in relevant training in the use of specific items and equipment

The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training. We will provide continuous support and guidance to someone willing to learn from a group of experienced teams, all committed to providing exceptional service.
