Surry Hills, New South Wales, Australia Alfies Full time $45,000 - $60,000 per year

Everyone has a part to play – Liquid & Larder's success is built on the people that work with us. We're looking for people who understand how a great hospitality experience both front and back of house is the sum of many parts.

Wait Staff

Sydney-based hospitality group, Liquid & Larder, are searching for experienced, charismatic waitstaff to join Alfie's.

About Alfie's:

Entering via the Open-air Terrace and Bar, guests are welcomed into a casual setting serving Sydney's coldest martinis, crisp draught beer, and a world-class wine list. At the rear, the Dining Room is where the energy intensifies. The space feels like theatre, sounds are sharp, the art distinct, and meat is prepared in full view, bathed in the red glow of the dry-age cabinet. It's fresh, bold, and electric in atmosphere.

Alfie's is also home to our in-house butchery, where we prepare and age the beef served across all six of our venues.

About the Role:

We're looking for a passionate and hospitality-driven Junior Sommelier / Waiter to join our team. This casual role will primarily focus on wine service and guest experience, with the opportunity to grow into a stronger sommelier position while also supporting the floor and bar.

Your Day to Day:

Service of guests according to venue guidelines and sequence of service

Delivering food and beverages to guests

Maintaining a section to Alfie's standards

Set up and pack down of the venue

Create and maintain guest relationships to ensure the best possible experience

Contributing to venue culture

About You:

Previous FOH experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting

A genuine passion for wine and service, with a strong willingness to learn and develop

WSET or CMS certification is a plus, but not essential if you bring solid experience and enthusiasm

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

A professional, approachable manner and a team-first attitude.

A confident and calm demeanour, allowing you to pivot between roles with ease

Strong organisational and communication skills

What We Offer:

Mentorship and hands-on training from our sommelier team

Regular wine training sessions and tastings to develop your knowledge

The chance to work with a carefully curated wine list and provide an elevated guest experience

Discount across all Liquid & Larder venues

Supportive scheduling that values life outside of work

Discounted Virgin Active Club membership

Potential for external coaching & development

What We Value:

Teamwork – we're in this together

Drive – push yourselves and others

Growth Mindset – strive to grow, thrive in mistakes

Accountability – take ownership

Respect – be humble and kind

The desire to create an experience – that's at the heart of what we do
