Asset Technician
LGI is a specialist business in landfill gas management and renewable energy generation. Our core business is to extract the biogas that's produced in landfills, and treat it in flaring units (to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions) or gas engines (to produce renewable electricity).
We manufacture much of the equipment we use to treat the biogas, including flaring units. We own and operate construction equipment to drill wells and install pipework in landfills. We build, own and operate renewable energy facilities on landfills. We currently operate, maintain, monitor, repair, and expand landfill gas systems across 27 landfill sites in QLD, NSW and the ACT. Our team of 50+ includes skilled trades, specialist engineers, machine operators, early career technicians, and more.
Established in 2009, LGI is a 100% Australian based and operated leader in carbon abatement that's committed to a clean energy and zero-carbon future.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The primary role of the Asset Technician Mechanical is to maximise engine availability and landfill gas utilisation primarily at our Eastern Creek site through the implementation of sound operational and maintenance practises and procedures. The role requires hands-on involvement in the day to day operations and maintenance of LGI's growing portfolio of landfill gas utilisation facilities, including landfill gas to energy (LFGE) and landfill gas flaring equipment. The role will also assist in the delivery of new installation, extension, and repairs of landfill gas systems and associated infrastructure in Australia. The Asset Technician is expected to contribute to team planning, decision-making and problem-solving, with a focus on safety, and quality.
The role reports to the Asset Supervisor. The role involves regular travel through NSW, ACT and some QLD (and other Australian locations as needed) in order to support LGI's projects and team. The role also participates in regular, rostered 24-hour on-call duties.
The additional responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with contractors
- Ensuring LGI property, such as plant, equipment, vehicles, is maintained in a tidy, clean, and professional manner at all times
- Day-to-day record keeping and regular communication of status and issues with the Asset Manager
- Help deliver maximum gas engine availability and associated equipment through ACT, NSW & QLD
- Monitoring, reporting and data analysis to ensure adequate production levels and safe production environments or to identify abnormalities with power production equipment or process
- Implementation of LFGE preventive maintenance program
- Site housekeeping
- Installation of new LFGE projects
- Emergency and out-of-hours call-outs
- Active participation in formal and informal (on-the-job) training
- Assist the Asset Manager with delivery of LFGE and gas flaring projects and tasks on-time
- Support LGI's landfill gas utilisation projects in NSW, ACT & QLD at an operational level, as needed
- Demonstrate responsibility on-site through clear communication, professional conduct, and preparedness
- Deliver value through performance and conduct
- Foster professional communication and relationships with clients, contractors, regulators, suppliers and other stakeholders at project sites
YOU SHOULD POSSESS:
- Trade qualifications as a Fitter/Mechanic
- Experience with Jenbacher, Caterpillar, MWM, or Waukesha gas engines is favourable, but not essential
- Experience with interpreting electrical schematic drawings
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to travel to various sites as required
- Valid Australian driver's license.
We look after our people: we offer opportunities for professional development (i.e. training and mentoring), we support work-life balance and well-being, and we like to have fun.
We value diversity and inclusion (check out our stats on gender diversity), professionalism, aptitude, and intelligence.
We pay above the applicable Award rate, and reward performance in various ways, including promotion, pay, benefits, and bonuses based on performance.
