About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role provides essential financial and administrative support to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations across the Club.

This is a full-time role based at our Centre of Excellence in Kellyville. Some additional hours may be required during month-end and year-end periods to meet statutory and management reporting deadlines.

The position will also require occasional attendance at selected Parramatta Eels events, including game days, outside of regular office hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounts receivable process, including debtor collections and weekly/monthly reporting in line with company policy
  • Prepare and process journals, assist in maintaining accurate business accounting records, and support the preparation of the profit & loss and balance sheet
  • Complete assigned balance sheet general ledger reconciliations monthly and provide support to the Accountant
  • Support the accounts payable process, including assisting department managers with creditor-related queries and requests
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including recording of assets, reconciliations, and depreciation journals
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts and daily bank reconciliations
  • Support external audit processes and respond to auditor queries
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Take an active role on home game days to support Club activities
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the Finance Team

Qualifications & Skills

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (or working towards)
  • 1–2 years' experience in a similar accounting or finance role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, "can-do" attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience using accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar) will be highly regarded
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and game days as required
