Step Into a Key Role with One of the Largest Government Departments as an A05 Communications Advisor
At Osborne Richardson Australia, we are more than just recruiters – we are a specialist agency dedicated exclusively to the public sector. For over 25 years, we have partnered with government at all levels, proudly supporting councils, departments, and statutory bodies nationwide.
Join our Client, one of Queensland's most influential government departments—an organisation responsible for shaping how millions of people move, connect, and access essential services every day. This is an initial contract opportunity running through until 30 June 2026 with potential extension.
This department oversees the planning, construction, maintenance, and management of Queensland's transport systems, including major road upgrades, safety initiatives, public transport integration, and long-term infrastructure planning. You will be part of a team that ensures communities understand, support, and benefit from this critical work.

You will provide strategic community and stakeholder management services to technical and professional staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship
management.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic communication advice to Project Directors, managers, and project teams, particularly around managing difficult stakeholders and facilitating critical conversations.
- Prepare high-quality communication materials, including project collateral, media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display boards, speech notes, and other written content essential to project delivery.
- Develop effective stakeholder management strategies, engaging and consulting with a diverse range of community groups, interest groups, and key partners.
- Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for regional road and infrastructure projects, including ongoing strategic communication support to project managers and the development and implementation of tailored communication plans.
- Provide expert advice across media and issues management, including crisis communications, risk assessment, reporting, and the use of appropriate engagement and communication tools.
- Plan, manage, and deliver key communication events, such as road openings, commissioning activities, project launches, and high-visibility media opportunities.
- Train and support project staff and consultants, enhancing communication capability, improving stakeholder relationships, and strengthening overall community engagement outcomes.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, procedures, policies, and activities that directly support key project objectives and ensure consistent messaging.
- Ensure compliance with departmental and regional requirements, including WH&S legislation, governance frameworks, and broader organisational standards of practice.
Key selection criteria:
- A degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, or similar experience.
- Proven capability in managing difficult stakeholders and conducting critical conversations.
- Experience in major infrastructure or government project environments.
- Strong social media and digital engagement knowledge.
- IAP2 certification or equivalent training in public participation.
