The Property Council of Australia is the champion of Australia's largest industry that employs 1.4 million Australians and shapes the future of our cities.

Our members include large and small companies which invest, own, manage and develop all forms of property as well as providers of professional services to the industry.

Position Purpose

To champion a strong and successful Land Lease Roundtable and represent the interests of the Land Lease Communities sector in Australia. This is a two-year contract position.

The key responsibilities will include

  • Be the public champion of the Land Lease Communities sector.
  • Lead public debates on issues relevant to the sector.
  • Achieve a strong media profile for the Land Lease Roundtable and the sector which reinforces our desired brand.
  • Lead public facing communications campaigns in support of advocacy and branding objectives.
  • Be the chief advocate for the Land Lease sector.
  • Develop policy positions, research and submissions to support sector interests.
  • Develop and deliver advocacy and campaign strategies in support of our objectives.
  • Implement strategies to retain and attract Land Lease Roundtable members.
  • Provide high quality corporate communications to members (newsletter, alerts, web content, social media presence)
  • Set the Property Council's overall strategy and business plan for the Land Lease Roundtable in consultation with the Roundtable and the Group Executive Policy and Advocacy

The ideal candidate will have

  • Excellent understanding of political and policy development processes and demonstrated experience in policy development and advocacy in a similar role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal), including interpersonal, negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Agile mindset with superior problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Self starting with the ability to participate as part of a positive executive team, founded on trust, collaboration and shared accountability.
  • Experience in media and media relations.
  • Knowledge of the property sectors would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong leadership experience an advantage but not essential.
