The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Packing Technologist to join the passionate SPC team. The role of the Senior Packaging Technologist is to provide the packaging innovation leadership at SPC to drive packaging development projects from concept to commercialisation in the market.

The role will work closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations & Quality to understand customer and consumer needs, creating packaging solutions to meet customer needs and sustainability targets, at the right cost and to agreed timeframes.

This is a broad and challenging role which will require you to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to influence business growth and drive profit through packaging solutions across different channels, customers and markets. This role will develop and drive the Packaging and Sustainability Program for SPC across all our sites including Shepparton (SPC), Auburn NSW (Kuisine Co ready meals), Mill Park (Original Juice Co), and Carrum Downs (Nature One Dairy).

Key Responsibilities:

• New Packaging solutions developed from ideation through to implementation and launch.
• At ideation phase, work with commercial business leaders to explore the consumer and customer insights and translate into packaging design specifications.
• Develop packaging solutions that are technically feasible in the supply chain network.
• Explore appropriate technology options available for innovative packaging designs.
• Rapid prototyping of product design options to assess customer and consumer acceptance using appropriate research methods.
• Develop experimental trial plans to test and validate new packaging designs and specifications.
• Support new packaging equipment scoping, implementation, factory acceptance testing and initial production runs.
• Development of the Packaging Sustainability Plan aligned with SPC's Corporate Sustainability Plan and national packaging recycling targets.
• Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to identify packaging cost savings opportunities.
• Continually drive own personal development through application of robust development plan.

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related Technology.
• Membership of Australian Institute of Packaging and ongoing professional development.
• Strong writer and verbal communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working independently and staying organised while assuming multiple responsibilities and tasks.
• 5-10 years' experience working in packaging technology roles.
• Senior Packaging Technologist experience desirable.
• This role requires travel to multiple sites for meetings, packaging trials etc.
