Summary

St Bonaventure's College is seeking a passionate, joy-filled, dynamic educator to fill the Middle Leadership position Head of Department (Religious Education and Service Learning).

About the opportunity

This Middle Leadership (Tier 4) position will report to the Head of College in the curriculum leadership of Religious Education and to the College Principal in the Service Learning and Religious Life of the College aspect of the role. Focused on collaborative work practices and supported by an outstanding team of Senior Leaders and support staff, the Head of Department (RE and Service Learning) will be a key member of the Middle Leadership Team. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate commitment to excellence and experience in leading and forming staff and students and in ensuring student voice and feedback is embedded in regular practice.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the overall curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation across the school under the direction of Senior Leadership
  • Applying contemporary learning and teaching research to classroom practice through whole-school professional development and targeted support for teacher improvement
  • Collaborating with Curriculum Leaders, teaching staff, and Senior Leadership to review curriculum frameworks and plan future directions
  • Leading teacher performance through professional dialogue, reflective practice, and formal/informal goal setting and appraisal
  • Staying current with curriculum and pedagogy developments and guiding whole-school professional learning accordingly
  • Providing induction and mentoring for beginning teachers in collaboration with Senior Leadership and Curriculum Leaders
  • Supervising student learning across the school using internal and external data, and implementing strategic interventions
  • Contributing to school leadership through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings
  • Managing financial and material resources within the curriculum area, including budget planning and expenditure

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Developed work programs in alignment with national, state, and local requirements.
  • Driving the assessment and moderation process when developing new programs.
  • Leading and innovating within a specified curriculum area.
  • Stakeholder engagement fostering collaboration and transparency.
  • Having responsibility for a financial budget.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
