About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Training Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

The Training Officer (Incident Management) is responsible for the delivery of accredited and non-accredited training programs aligned with the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) structure, including functional roles such as Incident Controller, Operations, Planning, Logistics, and Public Information. This role ensures high-quality facilitation of learning, manages student assessments, and oversees Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) processes to support workforce capability in fire and incident response.

About you

You are an experienced training professional with deep knowledge of the AIIMS framework and its application across incident management roles. You design and deliver engaging, inclusive training that meets the diverse needs of adult learners, using contemporary facilitation techniques. You're skilled in managing assessments and RPL processes, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and aligned with national standards. You bring excellent communication, coaching, and feedback skills, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for empowering others through learning.

Essential requirements

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) or higher-level TAE qualification
  • Currency in the qualifications being trained and/or assessed with demonstrated experience in field operations for an emergency and/or land management agency.
  • A current Australian driver's license
