Mandatory Requirements:
- A minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or higher in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum 6 months of Australian experience supporting people with disability is essential.
- NDIS Workers Check (Essential)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate (Essential)
- Current Provide First Aid and CPR Certificate (Essential)
- Safe Environments for Children and Young People: "Through Their Eyes" (Essential)
- Current SA Driver's Licence (Essential)
- DHS Working With Children Check (Essential)
- National Police Check (Essential)
- Infection Control Certificate.
To do a great job, you'll need the following:
- Experience supporting people with a physical disability, including transfers/use of equipment and confidence in hoisting.
- Demonstrated experience in actively supporting participant independence and building life skills through meaningful community engagement.
- Must be hands-on, proactive, and genuinely involved in the participant's daily support and goal achievement.
- Strong attention to detail with a solid understanding of Positive Behaviour Support strategies; committed to person-centred documentation and providing ongoing feedback to the team to enhance participant quality of life.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude.
- Ability and willingness to work varied shifts: passive sleepovers, active sleepovers, and day support, including community access and weekends. We also need you to commit to ongoing shifts.
- Proactive and active in engaging with our participants.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Implement care and behaviour support plans to support individuals with complex support needs and behaviours of concern to achieve their goals.
- Safely use and transport people in mobility vehicles.
- Support customers with Autism, intellectual disabilities, physical and psychosocial disabilities, medical needs and complex behaviours.
- Support participants to develop and maintain independence
- Helping our participants to engage with their local communities through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities
- Support participants with personal care, health issues and hygiene, such as eating, dressing, toileting and showering.
- Assist with coaching independent life skills such as cooking, domestic and social skills.
