The Postcode is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook Level 2 to join our growing kitchen team
We are seeking a reliable and motivated cook to assist with the preparation and service of our all-day menu, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The successful applicant will have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role and a genuine passion for producing fresh, consistent, and high-quality food.
This is a casual position (30hrs/week) based inside Greenslopes Private Hospital, ideal for someone looking to further develop their skills within a professional and supportive kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be organised, eager to learn, and able to work efficiently as part of a fast-paced and collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items under the direction of senior kitchen staff.
- Support the delivery of the café's all-day menu, and cabinet food, ensuring dishes are consistent, fresh, and served to standard.
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation throughout service.
Follow established recipes and portion guidelines to minimise waste and ensure accuracy.
Assist with mise en place, stock rotation, and basic inventory checks.
- Ensure all food is handled, stored, and prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Operate kitchen equipment (fryer, hot plate grill, combi oven) safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
Contribute to daily cleaning and end-of-service procedures.
Work collaboratively with senior cooks to support smooth kitchen operations.
- Participate in training and skill development to enhance cooking techniques and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and FOH teams to ensure service runs seamlessly.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude within a team environment.
Requeriments
- Certificate II in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a café, restaurant, or similar kitchen environment.
- Basic understanding of breakfast, lunch, snack preparation and cabinet food.
- Food Safety Handling Certificate (preferred)
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and maintain consistency.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $56,184.47 – $78,356.70 per year
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
