Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Family Connections is an approach developed and tested over more than 25 years in the USA.

The program is grounded in prevention and intervention practices with a focus on supporting families to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors in the family environment. At its core, Family Connections is a strength based, systems orientated approach, offering in-home family support, that utilises evidence-based assessment tools to identify needs and outcome driven service plans.

Micah Projects is seeking a compassionate and committed Peer Worker to join our Family Connections Team in Caboolture. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative, evidence-based program supporting families experiencing complex challenges and at risk of child protection involvement.

This is a fixed term part time 0.6FTE employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 2 of the SCHADS Award.

As a Family Connections Peer Worker, you will:

  • Build trusting, collaborative relationships with families to support parenting and reduce social isolation.
  • Provide emotional and social support to increase families' confidence and resilience.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for children.
  • Advocate for families and help them navigate systems and services.
  • Participate in a clinical trial of the Family Connections model, adapted from a successful US-based program.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has lived experience relevant to the role and a passion for supporting families.
  • Understands child development and the challenges faced by vulnerable families.
  • Communicates effectively and works well in a team.
  • Is committed to cultural safety and supporting Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and culturally diverse families.
  • Is willing to engage in training and contribute to program evaluation.
