About the role

As a Data Quality Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the quality, integrity, and validity of asset data across multiple systems, including GIS Systems. You will develop processes to ensure optimum spatial data quality and provide technical support and advice to all business units and stakeholders. Your role will involve regular system investigations, data audits, and the development of functional training needs for system users. You will also be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining detailed design, technical, system, user, and process documentation. Additionally, you will act as a key point of contact for liaising and consulting with stakeholders to resolve data integrity issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out regular Geographical Information System (GIS) investigations and data audits, making recommendations to management for efficient spatial data management processes
  • Identify and develop functional training needs for system users, ensuring changes to system and data management processes are delivered efficiently
  • Provide specialist technical advice and support to system specialists and stakeholders regarding data quality, system processes, and procedures
  • Identify processes for continuous data quality improvement, track system reports on data quality, and produce data quality reports
  • Facilitate the regular upload of bulk asset-related data from various sources and formats

This is a permanent opportunity. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy's operational footprint with Port Macquarie being the desired location.

About You

You are an experienced professional with a strong background in data quality management and spatial data management. You have a proven track record in managing the quality, integrity, and validity of data within GIS systems, particularly in the Construction, Energy/Electrical, or Utilities industry. Your technical expertise includes working with Asset Management Systems, GIS data structures, relational databases, and system interfacing. You are adept at identifying data quality issues and providing recommendations for improvements. Your strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex workloads under tight deadlines make you an asset to any team. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to prepare complex business and technical documents and develop strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar IT role in the Construction, Energy/Electrical, or Utilities industry
  • Profient knowledge and experience in Smallworld or ESRI based utility GIS
  • Proficient in SQL or spatial manipulation tools
  • Strong skills in intersystem integration, shared data, coordination, and visibility between systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a diverse and complex workload
  • Diploma of Information Technology with preferred electives in Spatial Information or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications
