Gladstone Central QLD, Australia Central Queensland Indigenous Development Ltd Full time $104,000 - $130,878 per year

CQID is experiencing enormous organisational growth across all services and seeking suitable candidates for a range of positions.

CQID is one of the largest employers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Central Queensland region. Offering a broad range of service areas, with roles that serve our community across Rockhampton, Emerald, Longreach, Woorabinda, Gladstone, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.

A new organisational structure, designated HR team and the implementation of a new Workforce Strategy. Striving to support employees on their career journey is a priority and contributes us to being an Employer of Choice.

Purpose of the Position

The Family Participation Program (FPP) is a free, voluntary service that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families involved with the statutory child protection system. Using a culturally grounded, time-sensitive Family-Led Decision-Making (FLDM) process, FPP Facilitators work alongside families to ensure they remain central to decisions affecting their children's safety and wellbeing. The program provides culturally appropriate support, advice, and planning, while facilitating referrals to strengthen connections to kin, culture, and community—helping reduce the risk of future child protection involvement.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Demonstrate strong capabilities in fostering professional and meaningful connections with families through respectful, positive and productive support strategies.
  • Conduct holistic and targeted safety and support assessment and FLDM facilitation alongside families with the aim of empowering them to address their needs and achieve their safety and well-being goals.
  • Ensure the family-led decision-making process is facilitated in accordance with legislative principles and requirements.
  • Effectively minimise and manage conflict that may occur within the family led decision making process, to ensure consistent engagement and quality FLDM outcomes for children, young people and their families.
  • Effectively manage a caseload of priority referrals by ensuring timely, accurate record-keeping and adherence to required deadlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local services and referral pathways while fostering respectful, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to ensure effective support and service delivery to families.
  • Develop families' awareness of local support and services available to them, through providing advice and sharing relevant resources, brochures and materials.
  • Uphold best practice and consistent service delivery alongside FPP teams, internal programs, and external partners.
  • Ensure open and clear communication is maintained with families, their support networks and relevant agencies throughout the duration of their support period.
  • Establish and maintain weekly consultation opportunities with respective CSSC representatives.
  • Work flexibly alongside Child Safety Service Centres (CSSC) and provide outreach support into the homes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external agencies to enhance assessment strategies and outcomes in the development of safety and support plans to keep children safe.
  • Be accountable for achieving targets, including key performance indicators that support service delivery and CQID strategic and operational plans.
  • Fulfil position requirements by assisting in collating and reporting outcomes and additional performance indicators as identified and monitored by Manager.
  • Participate and contribute to the organisation's compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS).
  • Work always to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required.
  • At all times work within CQID's Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by management.
