About Us
At Fire and Safety Industries (FSI), we do more than install and maintain fire systems — we protect people, workplaces, and livelihoods.
We're a privately-owned Australian company built on craftsmanship, trust, and a commitment to safety. From our head office in Brisbane, we've grown to support clients across Australia and beyond.
That growth has come from one thing: the people who believe in doing their work properly, every single time.
The Opportunity
We're looking for Qualified Fire Electricians who take pride in their trade and want to work with a team that values skill, reliability, and respect.
This is a chance to join our Queensland team servicing customers across the Central Queensland Mining Industry, on a 7/7 even-time roster — a rhythm that lets you enjoy both your work and your life.
In this role, you will:
- Work safely — every time, every day.
- Test, maintain, and install fire detection, alarm, and emergency lighting systems.
- Read and interpret drawings and control systems for fire pumps and sprinkler deluge valves.
- Carry out AS1851 statutory maintenance and report on any defects.
- Use your knowledge of fire standards and Australian regulations to ensure systems are compliant and reliable.
- Identify and report on defects in Dry Fire Systems, recommending practical repairs.
About You
You're not just qualified — you care about doing things right. You're curious, capable, and committed to safety. You know that attention to detail can save lives.
You'll need:
- A current Worksafe QLD Electrical Mechanic Licence.
- A current QBCC Occupational Fire Protection Licence (Install & Maintain Fire Alarm Systems; Inspect & Test Emergency Lighting).
- A valid Queensland Driver's Licence.
- Experience in troubleshooting, isolations, and Fire Indicator Panels.
- A solid understanding of Dry Fire Systems in industrial or mining settings.
- Strong communication skills — you know how to get things done with people.
- A proactive, self-managed approach to your work.
- Highly Regarded Experience
- QBCC Special Hazards Licence.
- Mining experience including work on Draglines, Sub-stations, and Switchrooms.
- Notifier Fire Indicator Panel programming.
- Enclosure Room Integrity Testing (Fan Testing).
- Alarm and lighting installations.
- Gaseous suppression systems (installation and repair).
Why Join Us
- We believe good work deserves good balance — and that people perform best when they feel valued and supported.
- Competitive remuneration package
- 7/7 even time roster for real work-life balance
- Permanent presence at a CQ Coal Mine
- Paid return flights from Brisbane
- Camp accommodation and meals provided
- Vehicle and fuel card supplied while on shift
