About the Role
Durack State School is seeking a passionate and experienced educational leader to join our team as Head of Special Education Services (HOSES). In this pivotal role, you will champion an inclusive culture and implement practices that ensure equity and excellence for students with disability. You will lead the development and support of high-quality teaching and learning adjustments, ensuring they align with relevant legislation and policies. With a strong focus on belonging and inclusion, you will work collaboratively with staff, students, and families to improve outcomes for every learner, fostering a school environment where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead and manage the delivery of high-quality special education services across the school.
Collaborate with staff, families, and external agencies to develop and implement inclusive practices.
Support and mentor teachers to differentiate curriculum and instruction for diverse learning needs.
Use data to drive individualised planning and school-wide improvement in student achievement and engagement.
Highly desirable skills and experiences
Highly desirable skills but not mandatory skills and experiences are:
Proven experience in special education and inclusive practices.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Expertise in case management, support plan development, and compliance with disability standards.
