Position Overview:

As a Chef at 2 Pugs Coffee & Kitchen, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, delicious food that reflects our brand and customer expectations. Working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team, you will assist in food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout each shift.

This position is ideal for a motivated and reliable individual who thrives in a busy kitchen, takes pride in their work, and is keen to develop professionally in a supportive team environment.

Reports to: Head Chef & Café Owner

Location: 2 Pugs Coffee & Kitchen

Position Type & Hours: Casual hours per week). Must be available Thursday to Sunday. Only breakfast and lunch shifts 6am-230pm.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a café, restaurant, or fast-paced commercial kitchen.
  • Sound knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and food presentation.
  • Understanding of safe food handling and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to take direction, work under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Punctual, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Must be available Thursday to Sunday 630am-230pm as shifts will be within this timeframe.
  • Current Food Safety Certificate essential

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with breakfast and brunch-style service.
  • Confidence in preparing dishes to dietary requirements (e.g., vegan, gluten-free, nut-free).
  • Certificate in Commercial Cookery or Food Handling is highly regarded.
  • Interest in developing skills and stepping into more senior roles in the future.
