- Base salary range of 79,426 to 96,850 depending on experience, plus superannuation.
The Opportunity
As the Project Officer Strategic Programs you will help develop and deliver policy and strategic planning initiatives and projects across Hunter Water's strategic planning programs, particularly in the Sustainability & Climate programs.
What you'll do:
- Support the development of evidence-based policy and strategic planning initiatives and projects including research, community and stakeholder consultation, management of consultants, and other service providers to provide strategic analysis and recommendations.
- Assist in research and preparation of strategic advice, information and reports to ensure the appropriate analysis and information is provided Management to enable informed decision making.
- Consult with internal stakeholders to ensure a whole of business approach to the scoping and assessment of issues and opportunities.
- Assist to scope and manage contracts with consultants.
- With the support of others, develop and implement customer, community, and external stakeholder engagement programs and activities
- Monitor the external environment in which Hunter Water operates to understand key strategic drivers and ensure Hunter Water is well positioned to take advantage of opportunities and manage emerging risks.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, climate science, environmental science, environmental management, engineering, science or equivalent related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the policies and issues relating to urban water services.
- Highly developed organisational skills, demonstrated through the ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst delivering on key milestones.
- Project delivery experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Desirable Criteria:
- Strategic, investigative and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think big and then identify and strategically analyse options before making a recommendation.
- Sound experience in undertaking aspects of policy and strategic planning process - including research, consultation, development, implementation, review and evaluation.
- Understanding of the climate and sustainability legislative and policy environment relating to urban water service provision.
