About the Role

You'll be joining a multidisciplinary design team that works across some of Australia's most dynamic interiors – from high-end residential styling to large-scale commercial developments, build-to-rent properties, display suites, boutique accommodations, and luxury short-stay fitouts. This is not a one-style-fits-all role. Every project is different, every brief unique.

At BOWERBIRD, design is strategic and soul-led. That means you'll be working hands-on with clients, developers, agents, and our internal teams to bring meaningful, high-impact spaces to life. From moodboard to furniture floor plan, from product selection to final styling, you'll guide projects at every step with design precision and creative vision.

What You'll Be Doing

      
•     Lead and deliver a diverse range of interior design projects across asset classes: residential, commercial, multi-res, hospitality and developer-led spaces

      
•     Create fully resolved furniture and styling schemes tailored to client briefs, timelines and budgets

      
•     Prepare and present moodboards, furnished floor plans, FF&E schedules, and curated design decks that speak clearly to vision and value

      
•     Source, specify and manage the procurement of furniture, finishes and styling items from our network of local and international suppliers

      
•     Attend client meetings and briefings with clarity and confidence, translating insights into actionable design solutions

      
•     Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and wider design team to maintain design integrity across every touchpoint

      
•     Be present at installations to ensure seamless execution and a high standard of finish

      
•     Support and mentor junior designers, contributing to a strong creative culture

Who This Role Suits

This role is made for a designer who is ready to take creative ownership. You're not just looking to "style a room" – you want to shape how people experience space. You value craftsmanship, clarity, and the energy that comes from working across many types of briefs and clients.

You're the right fit if you have:

      
•     3–5 years of experience in interior design, ideally with a strong focus on furniture schemes and residential/commercial fitouts

      
•     A portfolio that shows depth in furniture layout planning, styling, and detailed FF&E specification

      
•     A degree in Interior Design (or related field)

      
•     A strong working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Canva, and other relevant design tools

      
•     Excellent presentation, communication and time management skills

      
•     A collaborative mindset and an eye for both beauty and function
