This position as a Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher (Years 7–12) is due to Holy Cross College's continued growth in enrolment numbers and its commitment to providing a values-based education grounded in the Catholic tradition. The HASS teacher plays a vital role in developing students' understanding of human behaviour, social structures, history, geography, and civic responsibility through engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences. This is a full-time ongoing position which commences in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging HASS lessons that encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and meaningful connections to contemporary society.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of effective teaching strategies and consistently deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching practice.
  • Develop and maintain teaching programs in line with curriculum requirements, course outlines, and assessment timelines as outlined by the Learning Area Leader Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor and evaluate student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Establish high expectations for learning, behaviour, and personal responsibility, promoting a positive and respectful environment in the classroom in line with the College's Behaviour Support Guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete reporting requirements, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers.
