Northshore Christian Grammar School is a rapidly growing K–12 Christian school located in Alkimos, Western Australia. Since opening in 2017, the school has expanded to serve over 800 students, with projected enrolments of 900 by 2026. Northshore is owned and operated by Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA), a well-established system of independent Christian schools, providing strength, support, and stability for both staff and students. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher (Secondary) to join our growing teaching team from January 2026. This full-time role provides an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging and relevant learning across the HASS curriculum from Years 7 to 10, with the ability to teach ATAR subjects such as History, Geography, Politics, Economics, or Accounting in the senior years.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching HASS to students in Years 7–10 using a sound understanding of the WA curriculum and differentiation to meet student needs.
  • Delivering ATAR and/or General Year 11 & 12 courses in one or more HASS subjects such as History, Geography, Politics, Economics or Accounting.
  • Planning, developing and critiquing HASS programs and assessments to ensure relevance, rigour and student engagement.
  • Fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and academic growth within a biblical worldview.
  • Supporting student wellbeing and character development through pastoral care and classroom management that reflects Christian values.
  • Providing timely and constructive feedback to students and communicating with parents through written reports and conferences.
  • Actively participating in the spiritual, academic, sporting and cultural life of the school.
  • Upholding all Northshore policies and contributing to a positive school culture.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • A personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church.
  • Alignment with SCEA's Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs and a lifestyle consistent with these statements.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Humanities and Social Sciences education.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
  • Strong knowledge of the Western Australian HASS Curriculum.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students in one or more HASS subjects.
  • Experience planning and delivering effective HASS courses that meet curriculum standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Commitment to contribution beyond the classroom and engagement in school community life.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching ATAR subjects such as History, Geography, Politics, Economics or Accounting.
  • Proven ability to personalise learning and support diverse student needs.
  • Familiarity with integrating a Christian perspective into curriculum and classroom practice.
  • Willingness to contribute to co-curricular or extra-curricular activities.
