The Location and Lifestyle:

Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the area.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Diesel Maintenance and Drill Maintenance Superintendent. You will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of drill rigs, diesel-powered equipment, and related machinery vital to our operation. This role would ideally suit someone with a positive attitude towards safety, training, and environmental responsibility, with strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills, and an emphasis on teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee maintenance and repair operations on Open Cut Drills - Sandvik DPI's and diesel-powered equipment
• Manage breakdowns and preventative maintenance, requiring highly technical diagnostic abilities
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities
• Lead and coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure efficient maintenance schedules and minimize equipment downtime
• Collaborate with the wider mining team to support operational goals
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards

Key Selection Criteria:

• Previous experience as a Diesel Maintenance and Drill Maintenance Superintendent or similar supervisory role
• Ability to oversee repair and maintenance of a fleet of Sandvik DPi equipment is advantageous
• Experience in an open pit environment
• Australian Trade Certificate (Mechanical Engineering Trade)
• Minimum 12 months post-trade experience in a supervisory capacity
• Extensive knowledge of the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty mining equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead teams in identifying and resolving equipment issues
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the Company
• Current G1,8,9 supervisors ticket or ability to obtain
• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
• Highly organised with strong time management and communication skills to manage competing and/or changing priorities
• Drivers License – HR Class (Preferred)

Additional Requirements for Working at Mt Carbine Retreatment Pty Ltd:

• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical
• Australian Criminal History Check
• Need to live within 100 km radius of Mt Carbine Mine. The position is Drive In Drive Out.
