About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Accountant (General) to join our professional team. This is a client-facing role where you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of accounting services, including compliance-based financial reporting, taxation support, and advisory services.The successful candidate will also play an integral role in maintaining accounting systems, advising on financial compliance, and supporting management with informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide and present services relating to compliance-based financial reporting, auditing, insolvency, and accounting information systems in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.

2. Prepare and review financial statements and reports timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for presentation to management, shareholders, boards, and regulatory authorities.

3. Ensure accuracy of financial information and compliance with statutory and professional standards.

4. Conduct financial investigations and variance analysis on production costs, logistics margins, and freight-related overheads.

5. Develop and advise on accounting policies, budgetary frameworks, and compliance strategies.

6. Deliver accounting advice on business structures, operations, and transactions; Ensure timely and accurate lodgement of BAS, IAS, PAYG, FBT, and annual income tax returns, in consultation with external tax agents.

7. Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies to facilitate compliance and establish financial arrangements including audit, preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

8. Introduce, maintain, and improve accounting systems, provide guidance on software selection and implementation.

9. Implement and maintain internal control systems to safeguard accuracy and integrity of financial records.

10. Appraise & manager cash flow, budgets, and assess financial risks relating to capital investment projects.

11. Provide advises on associated record-keeping requirements ie. general ledger operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of chart of accounts.

Key Skills and Experience Requirements

1. Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated experience as an Accountant or in a similar role or in a commercial or public practice environment.

2. Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, compliance, and reporting frameworks.

3. Experience in preparing statutory financial reports, audits, and taxation advice.

4. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero) and information systems.

5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy.

6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships.

7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is required (or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia).

Membership or eligibility for membership with CPA Australia, IPA, or CA ANZ not mandatory but preferred.
