About the position:An exciting opportunity to work on meaningful events, programs and initiatives with a focus on improving Aboriginal engagement with the Parliament of NSW and building and maintaining strong and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal people and communities.

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer supports the Parliament of NSW to build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal people and communities.  The role develops and implements policies, programs, events, and resources that promote meaningful engagement, cultural understanding, and respectful practices. Working closely with the Senior Aboriginal Liaison Officer, the role provides advice on cultural matters.  The Aboriginal Liaison Officer also provides support to parliamentary committees by offering valuable insights and guidance on matters related to Aboriginal engagement, protocols, identifies opportunities to strengthen connections, and supports parliamentary committees with guidance on community engagement.  The Aboriginal Liaison Officer's focus is to ensure that the Parliament of NSW proactively engages with Aboriginal people and communities.

Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. Identified role
