Infrastructure Engineer

Canberra (Onsite Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days from home)

triniti is partnering with a major Federal Government agency in Canberra to source
experienced Infrastructure Engineers
to assist in the deployment, configuration, and optimisation of enterprise technology solutions across a highly secure ICT environment.

These roles will play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that underpins the Agency's digital services - spanning physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.

This opportunity suits skilled engineers with strong technical depth across Microsoft, Linux, virtualisation, and storage environments who thrive in structured, mission-critical settings.

Overview

As an
Infrastructure Engineer
, you'll contribute to the design, deployment, and ongoing management of infrastructure services supporting complex national systems. Working within a small, collaborative team, you'll provide technical leadership, support secure solution implementation, and ensure operational excellence across on-premises and cloud platforms.

You'll also work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders, providing advice, documentation, and knowledge transfer to uplift the capability of the broader ICT function.

Role Responsibilities


• Deliver infrastructure engineering and systems administration services to deploy and configure solutions within the Agency's ICT environment.


• Design and implement ICT infrastructure to support core business applications.


• Provide technical direction and guidance to third-party vendors delivering services on behalf of the Agency.


• Configure and administer Microsoft Windows Server environments, including AD, ADFS, and web services.


• Manage, optimise, and troubleshoot Linux servers (Ubuntu / RHEL).


• Administer VMware vSphere, SQL Server, and Dell storage technologies (Networker, Isilon).


• Develop and maintain PowerShell and other automation scripts.


• Ensure detailed documentation, configuration standards, and technical diagrams are maintained.


• Transfer knowledge to Agency staff through documentation, mentoring, and collaboration.

Your Background


• Proven experience designing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft-based infrastructure services.


• Experience delivering and supporting complex business solutions hosted on infrastructure and cloud platforms.


• Ability to address and manage technical, security, testing, and operational requirements within a secure environment.


• Familiarity with Federal Government ICT standards, including configuration management, documentation, and security compliance.

Highly Regarded


• Expertise in managing Ubuntu and/or Red Hat systems (including Satellite).


• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or other infrastructure-as-code technologies.


• Exposure to containerisation and orchestration platforms.


• Experience in infrastructure security management — WSUS, SCCM, Nessus, Nmap, SELinux, and firewall configuration.
