Looking for a role that's active and meaningful?
The City of Melville's MelSafe Community Safety Service is seeking Operations Response Officers for our frontline team.
This is not your average patrol job. You'll be first on scene to a wide range of incidents – from animal control and local law breaches to welfare checks, antisocial behaviour and urgent community safety matters. It's about fast, proactive response and a strong, visible presence in the community.
Salary: Up to $98,600 p.a. + 12% Super
- Base: $79,100 to $84,381 p.a.
- Shift Payments: Up to $14,300 extra p.a.
Available Roles & Rosters: Three (3) 7:7 rotating roster positions – day, afternoon & night shifts
Location: City of Melville Operations Centre
Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time
What You'll Do
- Patrol and respond across the City (day, afternoon & night shifts)
- Take proactive action to prevent and deter community safety and compliance issues
- Investigate and enforce under the Dog Act, Cat Act, Local Laws & more
- Handle animal management, parking, noise, litter & security-style responses
- Provide initial response to incidents before escalation to Investigations Officers if required
- Collaborate with WA Police and partner agencies
- Use modern technology for dispatch, reporting, and evidence collection
What We're Looking For
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
- Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
- Extensive experience or qualifications in compliance, investigations, or local laws (ROCS 1 & 2)
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and its application
- Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
- Physically fit and resilient for a fast-moving role
Desirable: Experience in court experience, ranger services, animal management (dangerous dog handling), investigations or enforcement roles
