Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaitsWe have an exciting opportunity for an APS4 Operations Officer to join the team. The Office of Agency Accessibility and Inclusion (OAAI) Branch is a diverse function that delivers a range of services, supports, and projects for staff. We engage closely with staff to understand needs and deliver solutions based on research, industry-leading practices, and technical expertise. We support staff with disability including the provision of workplace adjustments, assistive technology, and capability uplift for line managers. We are responsible for workplace accessibility, inclusion action plans, staff networks and more.
The role offers flexibility, with remote working available as well as a commitment to ongoing professional development and support.
Where you can add valueAs an APS4 Operations Officer you will be part of a team applying well-established policies, principles, practices, and procedures to provide operational and administrative support that supports and contributes to NDIA's objectives to "build a world leading National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring, allocating, and responding to general enquiries and support tickets using the Microsoft Office Suite and Agency ICT Systems.
- Triaging staff support requests, ordering, and processing payments for approved workplace adjustment services.
- Assisting with Human Resources data entry, workforce reporting, and recruitment administration.
- Triaging requests and responding to enquiries regarding Staff Networks including membership forms, committee elections, and communication materials.
- Maintaining financial records and actioning month-end administrative tasks including data entry, invoice confirmations, and reporting.
- Supporting with administrative tasks regarding sourcing, procuring and contract managing workplace adjustment services.
Our ideal candidate will possess experience working in an administrative capacity within a complex private or governmental organisation.
Desirable skills, experience, and qualifications include:
- Confidence in completing operational and/or administrative tasks of moderate complexity or difficulty.
- Understanding of confidentiality and privacy principles to manage sensitive information appropriately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques to identify and address issues as they arise.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Competence in using office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Basic understanding or willingness to develop knowledge of relevant legislation and NDIA policies, including procurement, finance, and recruitment frameworks.

While this role is ideally performed from Surry Hills - NSW, Brisbane - QLD or Geelong - VIC, flexible working arrangements, including work from home may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
