Job Information

The Finance Officer (Revenue) is responsible for ensuring all financial statutory requirements, including assisting with the preparation of audited financial statements, are met within a timely and efficient manner. The position is also required to oversee the calculations for the annual rates and water consumption across the Shire.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting and eligibility to register with a professional accounting body; or working towards the completion of such.
  • Experience in financial management as it is related to the position.
  • Experience with preparation of audited financial statements
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and general accepted accounting practices.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills
  • High level of competence in the use of MS Office, records management and other business applications
  • Demonstrated time management and forward-planning skills to achieve deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills to influence decision making.
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • An understanding of the principles of rates and water consumption calculations as it relates to local government statutory requirements.
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance is a requirement of this position.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Debt recovery and rates experience
  • Experience with the Practical / Civica Authority software
  • Local Government experience in a similar position.
