The Finance Officer is responsible for managing all day-to-day financial operations of L.A. Donuts, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, compliance reporting, and budgeting. This role ensures accurate financial data, supports strategic decisions, and keeps the company compliant with ATO and Fair Work requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Cash Flow

  • Process supplier invoices, match to purchase orders, and schedule weekly payments.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including wholesale customers and catering invoices.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash across all store locations.

Payroll & Compliance

  • Prepare and process weekly/fortnightly payroll for all staff under the Fast Food or Retail Awards.
  • Administer superannuation, PAYG withholding, Single Touch Payroll (STP) and BAS/IAS lodgements.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with Fair Work and privacy legislation.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Track daily/weekly/monthly sales and expenditure; highlight variances to budget.
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts and monthly management reports for the Director.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and cost-control initiatives.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain Xero/MYOB (or other accounting platform) and recommend automation or efficiency improvements.
  • Work with store managers to ensure accurate coding of expenses and timely submission of paperwork.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years in a finance, bookkeeping or management-accounting role, ideally in hospitality, retail or multi-site operations.
  • Proficiency with Xero, MYOB, or similar cloud accounting software; advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, superannuation and ATO reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
