Senior Network Project Manager

Location: Melbourne, VIC.

Work Arrangements: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Security Clearance: Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain a Baseline security clearance.

Are you a seasoned Senior Network Project Manager with a knack for simplifying complex infrastructure? We are seeking a project leader to spearhead a major network modernisation initiative for a key public sector agency in Melbourne. This is a chance to make a significant impact on Australia's critical data and digital services.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for leading the Network Optimisation Project, a strategic initiative to modernise and streamline our client's network infrastructure. Working within the Data & Digital Delivery Enablement Program, you will improve performance, security, and operational efficiency across a complex hybrid environment.

This Project Involves:

  • Simplifying network architecture to reduce complexity and cost.
  • Implementing Zero Trust principles and enhancing network security.
  • Upgrading to modern SD-WAN, VPN, and load balancing solutions.
  • Consolidating legacy systems and streamlining vendor arrangements.

You will work with data centre, cloud, and network security technologies, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery in an integrated environment.

Your Responsibilities & Expertise

  • Delivery Leadership: Drive assigned projects using PRINCE2, Agile, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Technical Acumen: You will review existing network architecture and lead the implementation of a modern solution. You have a strong understanding of data centre, cloud, and cybersecurity systems.
  • Project Management: Manage project scope, schedules, risks, issues, dependencies, and budgets effectively.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with and manage internal stakeholders, vendors, and delivery partners, translating technical complexity into clear business terms.
  • Problem-Solving: Lead cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.

Mandatory Skills & Experience:

  • Expertise in Modern Infrastructure: Proven success managing complex hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
  • Advanced Network Knowledge: In-depth experience with network design, segmentation, Zero Trust architecture, firewalls, and SD-WAN.
  • Strategic & Cost-Focused: Experience driving network consolidation and total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
  • Delivery Governance: Strong understanding of PRINCE2 and Agile frameworks, with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project and Jira.
  • Security & Standards: Familiarity with standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with data centre relocations or network migrations.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCIE, TOGAF, CISSP, AWS/Azure Architect).
  • Familiarity with public sector frameworks, procurement, and finance processes.
