About This Opportunity 

Join a passionate First Nations-led research team dedicated to improving cancer outcomes and the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering multiple research projects from initiation to completion within the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research (FNCWR) program.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative, community-driven health research, working alongside multidisciplinary experts and stakeholders across academia, government, and community organisations. You will oversee all stages of the project life cycle, from planning and stakeholder engagement to governance, reporting, and evaluation, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and day-to-day management of multiple research projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Track progress against milestones and performance indicators, prepare high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders, and manage project risks and issues.

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, academic leaders, industry partners, and government agencies.

  • Support governance processes, ethics approvals, and funding requirements while overseeing budgets, procurement, and contract negotiations.

  • Contribute to the refinement of project management frameworks, systems, and processes to enhance research delivery and impact.

About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education.

  • Demonstrated success in managing, monitoring and externally reporting on medium to large research projects.

  • High‑level interpersonal, liaison and negotiation skills to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines and maintain attention to detail across multiple projects.

  • Proven high‑level written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to a range of audiences and contexts.

  • Experience coordinating project teams, including staff allocation, performance management and professional development.

  • Knowledge and experience in facilitating contract discussions and managing related processes.
