Role description:
Arcadis is seeking experienced Senior Project Engineers to join our Independent Assurance Services (IAS) team, supporting major rail and road infrastructure projects across Southeast Queensland. These roles are based on some of the region's most significant long term transport projects and involve overseeing day-to-day site operations while supporting Arcadis' responsibilities in Independent Certification, Independent Verification, and/or Contract Administration.
Role accountabilities:
As a Senior Project Engineer, your role accountabilities may include:
- Lead and mentor Surveillance Officers and Project Engineers within the Project Independent Certifier's Team.
- Provide technical guidance while cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team culture and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working in collaboration with other teams and disciplines to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design during construction.
- Conduct on-site inspections and technical audits in accordance with the project documentation and relevant specifications.
- Monitor contractor activities for compliance with approved plans and quality procedures.
- Attend and document witness and hold points, verifying works before progression.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management Plans and safety/environmental protocols.
- Investigate non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide real-time feedback to project teams to support timely issue resolution.
- Maintain detailed site records including diaries, photos, test results, and inspection reports.
- Prepare high-quality documentation for legal, contractual, and compliance purposes.
- Report on safety, environmental, traffic, and quality performance.
- Support managers and directors in delivering successful project outcomes.
- Identify and support the management of project risks proactively.
Qualification & Experience:
First and foremost, you understand that communication is the key to success in our industry. You share our passion for improving the quality of life and embrace the values of a strong safety culture. You will come to us with extensive experience on complex infrastructure projects and:
- A relevant engineering degree with approximately 10+ years of experience in infrastructure projects including, civil, structural, rail or road.
- Sound technical understanding of the site-based requirements for civil and structural and rail construction projects.
- Well-rounded communication skills and the ability to modify your approach to achieve positive outcomes with diverse stakeholder teams including clients and contractors.
- Demonstrated understanding of state-based standards, particularly with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and/or Queensland Rail (QR).
- Current or eligible to obtain Rail Industry Worker (RIW) accreditation.
- Current or eligible to obtain Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and Chartership.
- A strong teamwork ethos; you'll join a team that pride themselves on working together to achieve the best outcome.
- Experience on road transport, heavy rail and light rail projects will be highly regarded.
- Personnel with both sound general infrastructure experience or with specialist experience in structural, pre-cast, geotechnical, pavements and earthworks aspects, or mechanical and electrical components of major transport infrastructure will be highly regarded.
