The Aboriginal Medical Service Cooperative Limited (AMS Redfern) was established in 1971 and was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) in Australia. We are a multi-disciplinary health care facility with Medical, Chronic Care, Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health, Dental and Public Health units. We work together to provide a high level of patient care whilst servicing our local community needs.

About the role

We have a great opportunity for an experienced full-time Dentist to join the team at AMS Redfern to deliver services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking oral examinations, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, prescribing medicines and carrying out treatment.
  • Reviewing and documenting medical and dental histories.
  • Assisting patients to make well-informed decisions about treatment procedures.
  • Providing patients with dental education including dietary counselling to prevent oral disease.
  • Providing support and guidance to Dental Assistants and other auxiliary staff.

What we are looking for

  • AHRPA Registration as a Dentist.
  • A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in the practice of dentistry and a demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement.
  • Demonstrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness and knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience building strong working relationships.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, prior knowledge of Titanium, and ability to learn new systems.
  • Valid Working with Children Check, National Police Check and evidence of health vaccinations.
