Chemistry Analyst Level III

Representing our client, Mérieux NutriSciences AQ (formerly BVAQ), we are seeking to appoint a permanent Chemistry Analyst III.

The role is directly responsible for conducting a wide range of routine, specialised, and complex analytical tests, including those involving atypical samples and instrumentation with diverse operating variables. The successful candidate will bring a thorough understanding of analytical methods, underpinning scientific principles, laboratory systems, and procedures to enable effective problem solving and troubleshooting in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a variety of tests according to SOPs and methods, ensuring accurate processing and verification of results.
  • Perform analytical tests using a range of instrumentation and equipment, demonstrating flexibility across different platforms.
  • Assist with routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to meet daily testing deadlines.
  • Process and report test results using laboratory application software.
  • Contribute to the application of the quality system and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with OHS requirements.
  • Undertake other duties as required, aligned with competence and capability.

Relevant Education/Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a chemistry laboratory .
  • Experience with GC and HPLC is highly regarded but not mandatory.
  • Ability to conduct complex sample preparation across a variety of matrices.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry principles, instrumentation, and analytical techniques, with capability for basic troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong reporting capability.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team-based laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OHS requirements and commitment to safe laboratory practices.
  • Strong customer service orientation and collaborative approach.
